New College Prep Program for Gifted Students
STAMFORD, CT – The Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) has established a new program for academically advanced students to prepare them for admission to U.S. colleges.
SIG, providing an academic advantage for gifted children since 1984, has created this three-week residential program to focus on college admissions strategies and academic enrichment for gifted children in grades 9 to 11.
Admission to the most competitive US colleges has become increasingly difficult. Students need every possible advantage. The SIG College Prep Program at Bryn Mawr College, Princeton University and UCLA not only focuses specifically on college admissions skill development but also provides students with the social and cultural experience of living on a prestigious college campus for three weeks. College admissions officers look for evidence of students seeking new challenges and engaging themselves in ongoing learning.
SIG’s mission is to provide the highest quality educational and social opportunities for academically gifted and talented students through programs designed to meet their abilities and needs. Over the past twenty-three summers, SIG has expanded to include eleven residential sessions and four day programs. In 2006 alone, over 1,600 academically gifted students in Kindergarten through 11th grade participated in the three-week long SIG programs.
SIG offers a prestigious three-week residential program for gifted children in grades four through eleven, hosted by nine of America’s finest college campuses: Amherst College, Bryn Mawr College, Drew University, Emory University, Princeton University, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, University of Michigan, and Vassar College. The SIG College Prep Program will be offered at Bryn Mawr College, Princeton University and UCLA.
SIG is a subsidiary of the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) and is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut.
