SIG to Offer Tuition Insurance for Gifted Summer Camp Programs

STAMFORD, CT – The Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG), will now offer a tuition insurance guarantee for its 2009 programs.

SIG hopes to provide parents and students with peace of mind and financial reassurance during this difficult economic period with the launch of its world class coverage insurance plan. In the event that a SIG student's parent is laid off or the student is unable to participate in the program due to serious injury or illness, program fees will be refunded.

"With the struggling economy, many schools are decreasing funding to their gifted programs or cutting them altogether," states Barbara Swicord, president of SIG. "SIG provides substantive educational enrichment that nurtures independence, self-confidence, and social development at a time when it is so critical that we invest in our gifted young people. Our tuition insurance will provide reassurance for parents when choosing SIG to challenge their gifted child."

Admission to SIG is on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis. The application deadline to apply for all programs is May 1, 2009.

SIG offers its prestigious three-week residential program for gifted children in grades four through eleven, at eight of American's finest college campuses: Amherst College, Bryn Mawr College, Emory University, Princeton University, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, University of Texas at Austin, and Vassar College.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2009, SIG has expanded to include nine residential sessions and eleven day programs. In 2008 alone, over 1,600 academically gifted students in Kindergarten through 11th grade participated in the three-week long SIG programs. SIG is a subsidiary of the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) and is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut.
