AIFS Privacy Policy

Privacy statement of the American Institute For Foreign Study
The American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) and its divisions respects the privacy of visitors to our website. You control what personal information, if any, you share with us. You are not required to tell us who you are nor reveal any information about yourself. This statement demonstrates our firm commitment to privacy. It discloses information-gathering and dissemination practices for the website: www.aifs.com and affiliated AIFS websites.

Our web server collects your domain name but not your email address. We collect the email addresses of those who communicate with us via email. AIFS does not assemble such personal information for sale nor does AIFS make addresses of our site users available to other organizations.

We use your IP address to measure use of our site's content, help diagnose problems with our server and administer our website. Our web server automatically recognizes only the IP address, manufacturer of the web browser in use, time of use, specific files requested and referring URL. Other aggregate information is voluntary from surveys or applications in which you voluntarily provide other personal data.

Forms you fill out to interact with our business units to request literature, place an order, track an order or otherwise correspond with AIFS may request personal information. For example, our site uses order forms for customers to request information, products and services. Contact information from these forms is used to send information requested.

If you supply AIFS with your email or postal address, you may receive mailings with information about new products and services or upcoming events. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, notify info@aifs.com. The same opt-out procedure exists for phone contact from AIFS. At any time you may opt out, change or modify any information provided AIFS. By contacting info@aifs.com or the appropriate division, you may remove your information from our database so as not to receive future communications.

Our site gives users the option to change and modify information previously provided by relaying changes or modifications to AIFS by calling (866) 906 2437.

Online applications may ask for contact information such as name, email address, mailing address and phone number, personal identifiers such as Social Security or passport numbers, financial information such as credit card number and demographic information such as ZIP code, age, schooling or marital status. Required fields are indicated, and acceptance to a program depends on this information.

Thwarte certifying authority, a global provider of digital certificate products, services and solutions that create security, privacy and authentication in electronic commerce, attests that the server to which any such confidential information is sent is that of AIFS. Thwarte recently was acquired by VeriSign, Inc., the leading provider of internet trust services. All information-personal and financial-are handled by the AIFS secure server.

Financial information collected is used to bill the user for products and services. Credit card information is handled by the AIFS secure server. This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control at its Stamford, CT, headquarters where the secure server for transactions resides.

The AIFS site contains links to non-AIFS sites. Although we try to link only to websites that share our respect for customer information privacy, AIFS is not responsible for their privacy practices or content. AIFS occasionally refers users to commercial sites where related information, services or products are available. Information supplied to these sites is at user discretion.

Information contained in this site may also be routed through division-specific references (Au Pair in America, Camp America, the AIFS College Division, Cultural Insurance Services International, AIFS Partnerships, Summer Institute for the Gifted, NSGT, Summer Advantage, ACIS and Resort America). The same privacy practices are observed on any and all AIFS divisional routings bringing users to this site. AIFS divisions may share selected contact information.

This policy may be revised over time as new features are added to the website. We will post those changes prominently so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and whether we will disclose it to anyone. Please check this site for information about revisions to our privacy policy.
